Course Policies
Instructor Policies I will not discuss your grades over the phone or by email. If you would like to discuss your grades, you must schedule a time to come to my office and discuss in person.

Every student MUST have a copy of the required textbooks by the SECOND week of class. The student will still be responsible for any assignments given. Failure to have a text may result in being dropped from the class.

Students are responsible for completing all assigned reading and video viewings. Students are responsible for completing all assigned homework and for being prepared for each class. This applies even if you were absent for the previous class.

A failure to follow oral and/or written instructions will result in penalties.

Assignments will be posted weekly, usually on Monday. Assignments are due by 11:30 pm on the night of the due date posted online. No emailed work is accepted unless requested by instructor. Assignments are to be completed/submitted on BlackBoard. DO NOT wait until the last minute to complete class work. LATE WORK is highly discouraged and will incur an automatic 10-point penalty for each day late. Late work will be accepted for up to five days after the original due date. After the five-day period, no work will be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS. The lowest two assignment grades will be dropped.

The use of calculators and/or spreadsheets to solve problems on assignments and exams IS PERMITTED unless otherwise instructed. Graphing/Programmable calculators will not be permitted during exams. If student chooses to use the calculator on their phone, it must remain on the table and only on the Calculator App during the exam.

Quizzes will be given on Blackboard covering the chapter studied that week and will be timed. Quizzes will often cover the vocabulary contained in the chapter. Due dates for quizzes will be listed on the Course Calendar. There will be no makeups for missed quizzes and late quizzes will not be accepted. Missed quizzes will receive a score of zero. The lowest two quiz grades will be dropped.

Extra credit may be assigned at the discretion of the instructor.

Exams: You must work alone while taking the exam. Cheating on exams is not acceptable and will be subject to violations of the Academic Dishonesty policy. NO MAKE-UP EXAMS. If a student should miss an exam, at the end of the semester, the instructor will average all exam grades [including the zero(s)] to replace the zero for the missed exam. EXAMPLE: 4 test grades: 100, 100, 0, 80 = 280; 280/4= 70; 70 will go in the place of the zero.; Test grades are now 100, 100, 70,80

Students must leave the classroom after exam is finished.

There will be a cumulative final exam. All students must take the exam on the scheduled date and time, and failure to do so will result in a ZERO on the final exam.

Students should keep a record of their grades/average. Instructor(s) will not average grades for students.

Academic dishonesty is NOT tolerated and will result in a ZERO on any assignment; a second incidence of academic dishonesty will be handled based on campus policies and procedures with the department chair.

Software Requirements:
If you are in a course that is using a specific software, you MUST have the software available to you either on your home computer or you must use the open lab provided in the Gates Library. Access to Microsoft Office (Excel and Word) will be necessary.

Reliable Internet access is required for all online courses and many traditional courses. Computer failure and lack of internet access are not acceptable excuses for missed assignments, projects, quizzes, or exams.

***A standard function desktop or phone calculator and/or financial calculator is permitted and encouraged. Programmable/graphing calculators will not be allowed on exams.

Attendance Policy Poor attendance is a leading reason for termination from a job in all areas of employment. With this factor in mind, the instructor monitors student attendance daily and via Blackboard reports of logins and interaction with course. In addition, attendance on a regular basis is necessary for proper skill development.

To be successful in this course, the student MUST purchase the assigned textbook and log into BlackBoard at least 2-3 times weekly. Regular, reliable access to BlackBoard via Internet is required for this in-person course.

Students are responsible for completing all assigned homework, including reading assignments, by the required due dates and for being prepared for each class meeting. This applies even if you were absent from the previous class meeting.
Academic Honesty Academic honesty is expected from all students, and dishonesty in any form will not be tolerated. Please consult the LSC-PA policies (Section IX, subsection A, in the Faculty Handbook) for consequences of academic dishonesty.
